Saito & Associates, Inc. has been retained on an exclusive and confidential basis to lead the search for the next Chief Financial Officer, for an award winning, privately held, vertically integrated owner, developer, and operator of retail shopping centers throughout the western and midwestern, United States. Since inception, the founder has grown its portfolio to over $3B in AUM, comprising of more than 110 shopping centers making up over 12 million s.f. of retail space, across California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Illinois. The portfolio is built around grocery-anchored centers, power centers, and mixed-use developments. This role will report to the CEO in Calabasas, California, and oversee regional offices in Denver, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and Chicago.
Scope:
5 Interdependent Areas of Responsibility (A detailed description will be provided to interested and qualified candidates)
Leadership & Cross Functional Partnership :
As a strategic member of the Executive Committee, lead the finance, accounting and financial reporting functions. Develop and mentor the finance department team and strengthen cross-departmental collaboration while preserving the organization culture.
Financial Operations & Accounting Leadership:
Direct all core financial functions, strengthen internal controls and financial governance, improve timeliness, accuracy and consistency of financial reporting using clearly defined standards. Build and mentor a high-performing financial organization, including corporate and divisional teams.
Capital Markets & Investor Relations:
Support all financing and refinancing activities, including analytics, diligence and lender relationships. Partner with senior leadership on capital strategy, portfolio optimization and underwriting of new development and acquisitions deals. Oversee investor reporting and communications.
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analytics:
Lead portfolio level and enterprise level budgeting, forecasting, what-if analytics and performance analytics. Standardize financial reporting across the platform. Provide Executive Committee with decision making analytics on risk, performance and opportunities including develop and acquisition activities.
Technology Modernization & Automation:
Build scalable and leverageable roadmap for systems, policies and procedures, and phase out manual processes to optimize timeliness, accuracy and capacities. Discover and implement Ai enabled automation across reporting, variance detection, A/R & collections, and CAM workflows, etc. Oversee core finance systems, including Yardi and future implementations and updates. Candidate Threshold Requirements Direct, hands-on experience in retail shopping center development, investment, or property management is a threshold requirement for this search. Experience with grocery-anchored, community, power-center, or mixed-use retail assets is strongly preferred, as is a background in acquisition underwriting and development feasibility analysis for retail transactions of $20 million or greater.
Compensation notes:
Competitive salary to be determined for each qualified candidate. Compensation includes profit sharing based on overall companies performance, participation in new project promotes and opportunity to invest in new deals. Full executive benefits package.
