$180,000 - $240,000 About the Role We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, reporting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, banking relationships, tax coordination, internal controls, and financial planning for a growing scrap metal recycling and processing organization made up of five operating companies. This is a hands-on senior leadership role for a financially disciplined, operationally minded leader who understands complex, multi-entity businesses and can help improve profitability, cash flow, and decision-making. This role works closely with the CEO, owners, and management team. Key Responsibilities Oversee financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls across multiple operating companies. Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and provide timely financial insight to the CEO, ownership, and management team. Coordinate directly with the external CPA firm on year-end financial statements, tax return preparation, and proactive tax planning. Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, working capital, liquidity, and debt arrangements. Analyze profitability, commodity exposure, inventory, margins, purchasing, sales, freight, and processing costs. Continuously improve accounting processes and automation. Support capital planning, acquisitions, equipment investments, and other strategic business initiatives. Lead and develop the finance and accounting team while partnering closely with operations leadership. Identify trends, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improved profitability. Manage the internal financial team. Scrap Metal & Commodity Finance Monitor the financial impact of fluctuations in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap prices. Develop processes for managing commodity-price exposure and margin risk. Analyze purchase prices, selling prices, spreads, processing costs, freight, and gross margins. Monitor inventory valuation and commodity exposure. Establish appropriate controls around purchasing, pricing, inventory, and sales. Analyze inventory turns, aging, shrinkage, yield, recovery rates, and processing losses. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required. 10+ years of financial management experience as a Controller, VP of Finance, CFO, or similar senior finance role. Works with private-equity or closely held businesses. Managing multiple operating companies, or multi-location operations. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, banking, and internal controls. Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) with advanced Excel skills dealing with large data sets (Pivot Tables, Charts) and proficient financial modeling skills. Experience in scrap metal, recycling, commodities, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or related industries preferred. CPA, MBA, or other advanced financial credential preferred. Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills.
