Job Description
Logan designs, manufacturers, sells, and services high quality, precision laboratory instrumentation for the pharmaceutical, biotech, contract, government, and academic laboratory environments. We manufacture our products at our facility in Shanghai, China and at our headquartered in Somerset, NJ. Logan is in a transition phase and needs a strong hands-on CFO to take our 35-year-old unstructured company and help structure it for growth. This includes setting up effective charts of accounts, loading bills of materials into the ERP, managing inventory through the ERP, establishing standardized processes, establish GAAP compliance, monthly closes, consolidating financials (USA & China), and more. The CFO will directly manage the financials for the USA entity and manage the local site controller located in Shanghai. Responsibilities (covers USA & China entities) 1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Capital Structure
- Align the company's long-term financial strategy with physical plant capacities and manufacturing scale.
- Assess the financial viability and ROI of capital deployment.
- Evaluate and mitigate financial vulnerabilities. 2. Cost Accounting & Margin Management
- Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, product standard costing, job costing, and labor variances.
- Establish tight controls over raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory valuations.
- Analyze unit economics and profitability breakdowns across specific product lines, individual SKUs, customers, and distribution channels.
- Collaborate closely with plant managers to identify waste, monitor overhead allocation, and drive factory floor efficiencies. 3. Budgeting, Financial Planning, and Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling cash flow projections, and forward-looking financial forecasting.
- Implement and manage real-time monthly operating scorecards and operational review cadences.
- Provide corporate visibility into working capital performance across accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory velocity 4. Compliance, Technology & Systems Governance
- Establish and maintain full accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of all financial records under GAAP standards.
- Coordinate all corporate federal, state, and international tax strategies—including multi-state sales tax and customs/tariffs for overseas vendors.
- Serve as the executive owner of the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to ensure smooth production tracking and financial reporting integrations. Hard & Soft Skills
