Hospicare and Palliative Care Services is a non-profit organization providing compassionate, high quality comfort care and end-of-life care for people in Tompkins and Cortland Counties, in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. We are hiring for a Finance Director / Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a senior management position reporting directly to our Executive Director and lead our agency's administrative and finance functions. But with success comes great challenge and opportunity: our growth in services and fundraising requires us to bring a seasoned, experienced financial leader for these responsibilities:

• Create solid, thoughtful budgets, ratios and key performance indictors (KPI's) for the fiscal year, and then utilize a collaborative, cyclical "review and react" process to analyze results, problem solve and build the capacity of the management team and the finance committee to continuously improve our financial results.
• Forecast current fiscal year results based on actuals and trends, as well as create and update multi-year forecasts that analyze the most likely impact of high level scenarios such as service growth, reimbursement and expense changes, and other factors.
• Manage the agency's cash reserves and assets, ensuring that we meet seasonal cash flow needs, capital budgeting and project prioritization, and investment portfolios.
• Work closely with our small administrative team and our outsourced vendor partners who provide bookkeeping, billing, IT, phone and equipment supports.

We are looking for a Finance Director / CFO who has a broad depth of financial and management skill, and who has vision, discipline and a deep commitment to the purpose of Hospicare and our "North Star" vision. There is more detail in the attached job description, but these are the key qualities we are looking for in candidates for this position:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, along with 8-10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, including experience managing cash flows, budgets and other financial tools, as well as people and/or vendors who provide outsourced or shared financial services.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, active listening, and collaborative problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to build trust and partnership with non-financial leaders, coaching them toward greater financial fluency rather than enforcing compliance through fear.
• Sound judgment and discretion; conducts all dealings with a high degree of integrity and authenticity, as a senior leader of the agency. Ability to be a thoughtful and active partner for the Executive Director, the agency leadership teams, and the Board of Directors.
• Excellent strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight for non-financial audiences.

Should be able demonstrate strong forecasting and scenario-planning capability while analyzing business models and keeping a strong focus on the agency's mission-driven "North Star." The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 in annual salary, with a competitive benefits package that includes a health care, dental, life insurance and other benefits, as well as a 403(b) retirement investment account with a generous employer match.
