Job Description

CFO LOCATION
Pittsburgh, PA No Remote TYPE Direct Hire ID PA84-2755125 POSTED May 24, 2026 Chief Financial Officer Our client, a highly successful privately held enterprise with significant scale, operational complexity, and a strong national footprint, is conducting a search for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer. This is a rare opportunity for an exceptional financial executive to step into a pivotal leadership role within a financially strong, growth-oriented organization with an established legacy, entrepreneurial ownership, and a long-term strategic outlook. The ideal candidate will be far more than a traditional finance steward. This leader will serve as a strategic business partner to ownership and executive leadership, helping shape the company's financial future while preserving operational discipline, liquidity strength, and profitable growth. We are seeking a sophisticated operator with deep treasury expertise, exceptional business judgment, and proven success leading large, multi-functional finance organizations in complex, multi-location environments. The Opportunity This is not a turnaround. This is not a distressed environment. The organization is financially healthy, operationally sophisticated, and positioned for continued growth. The mandate is to build upon a strong foundation—bringing fresh strategic insight, enhanced financial leadership, and the right level of modernization to support the company's next chapter. The incoming CFO will inherit a capable team and established infrastructure, while being expected to elevate financial strategy, optimize capital deployment, strengthen banking relationships, and serve as a true commercial partner to senior leadership. Key Priorities Treasury Leadership & Capital Strategy Lead enterprise-wide treasury strategy, liquidity management, and long-range capital planning. Oversee cash forecasting, working capital optimization, and enterprise liquidity strategy. Serve as the senior relationship executive with banking partners and capital providers. Bring practical expertise around revolving credit facilities, asset-based lending structures, term financing, and broader capital structure strategy. Evaluate financing alternatives that support disciplined growth while preserving financial flexibility. Provide executive leadership around capital allocation and long-term balance sheet strategy. Strategic Finance & Executive Partnership Act as a trusted advisor to ownership and executive leadership on business strategy, profitability, expansion, and enterprise performance. Partner closely with operational leadership to drive sound decision-making and profitable growth initiatives. Bring a commercially minded finance perspective—not simply reporting numbers, but helping shape the business. Identify opportunities for operational leverage, financial efficiency, and strategic reinvestment. Enterprise Financial Leadership Lead a sizable, multi-disciplinary finance organization spanning FP&A, controllership, treasury, tax, credit, collections, risk management, and related financial functions. Build organizational capability, leadership bench strength, and scalable financial infrastructure. Ensure financial discipline across a geographically dispersed, multi-location operating environment. Drive modernization where appropriate while respecting what has already made the organization successful. Organizational Complexity & Operational Partnership Navigate a fast-paced operating environment with significant workforce scale and decentralized operations. Support leadership in balancing operational realities with disciplined financial oversight. Develop visibility into performance across multiple business units and locations. Bring practical leadership experience in businesses with meaningful complexity, operational intensity, and distributed decision-making. Candidate Profile The successful candidate will likely bring: Prior experience serving as Chief Financial Officer (or clearly operating at CFO level) within a large, complex organization Proven leadership of substantial finance organizations with multiple direct reports and broad functional oversight Deep treasury, banking, liquidity, and capital markets expertise Experience supporting multi-site / multi-state operations Strong understanding of cash-intensive, operationally complex business models A commercial mindset with the ability to partner effectively with operations leadership Experience in privately held, family-owned, or entrepreneurial ownership environments strongly preferred The maturity, diplomacy, and executive presence to operate effectively in a long-tenured leadership environment Financial discipline paired with strategic vision Preferred Background Particularly attractive backgrounds may include: Large privately held enterprises Multi-location service, distribution, retail, consumer, logistics, or operationally intensive organizations Companies with substantial employee populations and decentralized operations Businesses where treasury sophistication and cash discipline are central to enterprise success Less Ideal Profiles This opportunity is likely not the best fit for executives whose experience has been exclusively: Private equity-driven transformation environments Highly leveraged turnaround situations Pure Wall Street / investment banking career tracks without operating leadership depth Location Greater Pittsburgh region (onsite executive leadership presence expected).
