Chief Financial Officer City of Pharr - 3.8 Pharr, TX Job Details Full-time From $78,000 a year 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Bachelor's degree Accounting and finance experience Full Job Description Scope of the Role The Chief Financial Officer provides citywide financial leadership, ensuring sound stewardship of public funds and reliable reporting that supports informed decision-making. This onsite, full-time role in Pharr, TX oversees financial strategy and governance across accounting, investments, and debt management. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining accounting and financial policies; managing investment and debt management practices; staying current with GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements; preparing the Quarterly Investment Report and affirming compliance with PFIA and Authority policy; and serving as the primary financial liaison to external auditors, including communicating significant operational changes and resolving complex audit matters.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 10+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in local or state government finance

Periodically, you'll coordinate with audit partners to address open questions and ensure documentation is complete, and you'll carve out time to track emerging GASB guidance and assess how upcoming changes may impact reporting and policy.
