ECLARO's client is one of the largest property and casualty insurance firms, and has been providing unique insurance and risk management tools nationwide for over a century. Seeking someone who brings at least ten years of experience with liability claims, including a strong understanding of general liability, product liability, umbrella auto, and homeowners policy coverage. Familiarity with tort law, legal terminology, motor vehicle law, and current case law is crucial. The ideal consultant should have thorough knowledge of liability coverages, basic reinsurance, technical coding, and possess the ability to negotiate claim settlements efficiently, including using structured settlements when appropriate. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.Responsibilities:
In this role, the individual will handle litigated or complex claims—such as cases involving severe damages, coverage issues, sensitive matters, and declaratory relief actions. They'll be responsible for analyzing and resolving coverage problems, recommending changes to policy language when needed, and drafting Denial or Reservation of Rights letters. The position also involves establishing and maintaining accurate loss reserves, negotiating settlements, and conducting in-house investigations by gathering statements, police reports, medical records, and repair estimates. Participation in meetings or appearances related to assigned claims may be required, as directed by the supervisor. Managing outside vendors and attorneys is also a key component, including directing assignments and limiting scope to maximize cost efficiency and minimize delays. Compliance with the Fair Claims Practices Act, internal guidelines, and keeping supervisors, reinsurers, and excess insurers informed about significant claim developments is essential. Timely preparation of reports, notices, and prompt responses to correspondence from brokers, agents, insureds, claimants, attorneys, and other stakeholders are all part of the responsibilities.
