This position works closely with Claims Examiners and defense counsel to assist with claim strategy, review and to summarize legal and coverage documentation, coordinate coverage correspondence, and support the overall administration of complex construction defect claims. The ideal candidate has a strong working knowledge of Texas law related to construction defect claims, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced claims environment.
Job Requirements:
Assist Claims Examiners with the day-to-day management and administration of construction defect claims. Review legal defense reports and prepare concise, accurate summaries for inclusion in the claim file. Review coverage reports and summarize key findings, recommendations, and coverage considerations in the claim file. Work collaboratively and assist the Claims Examiner and defense counsel regarding claim strategy and participate in discussions concerning the handling and resolution of claims, as appropriate. Attend mediations on behalf of the Claims Examiner when requested and provide appropriate support before, during, and after mediation. Coordinate the issuance of counsel-drafted coverage letters by transferring approved correspondence to company letterhead and issuing the correspondence in accordance with established procedures. Review claim documentation for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with established claim handling procedures. Maintain organized and accurate electronic claim files and documentation. Assist Claims Examiners with other claim-related projects and administrative responsibilities as needed. Communicate professionally and effectively with Claims Examiners, defense counsel, insureds, clients, and other claim stakeholders. Maintain confidentiality of claim information and handle sensitive legal and insurance-related documentation appropriately. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
