Job Description
Summary:
Leadership role within the Claim Team focused upon coaching, training, development, and performance management of assigned claim team members. Ownership of file quality, adjudication efficiency, expense control, and vendor management are key responsibilities. Collaboration with the Director of Claims on projects, directives, and key claim accountabilities will also be a major activity within this position. Lead and manage claim team personnel. Ensure claim quality and service, along with other key claim metrics, are meeting or exceeding expectations. Optimize processes and expense control measures. Train, coach, and develop new and existing staff. Report on key claim metrics, trends, and project status. Maintain ongoing relationships with external and internal claim partners and stakeholders, such as jewelers, agents, attorneys, SIU, and independent adjusters. Foster a strong relationship with PL Underwriting. Investigates and reviews coverage in conjunction with legal precedence. Examines claim reports or similar claims/precedents to determine extent of coverage and liability. Coordinates claims personnel activity during litigation and assists counsel in claims settlement and defense. Participates in conducting performance evaluations for subordinates, including preparing and/or reviewing a development plan for each person, which will enable each to reach maximum potential. Represents the company as a leader both internally and externally for the company vision and mission statement and corporate culture objectives. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university. 5 years of prior insurance claim experience. Proficiency in Microsoft suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to obtain/maintain an adjuster's license Extensive knowledge of jewelry terminology, jewelry repair processes, and jewelry industry resources preferred Completion of the AIC, SCLA, or CPCU program preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
