Environmental Compliance Manager:
Position Description:
  • Assists in the development and administration of a fully compliant environmental program.
  • Manages/implements environmental and safety programs IAW company, PWS, federal, state, and local regulatory guidance.
  • Responsible for prevention and elimination of injuries and illnesses to employees through compliance with industry best practices and federal/state/local regulatory guidance.
  • Inspects workplaces, assesses and eliminates critical environmental hazards, corrects work procedures, ensures proper hazmat procedures.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve safety operations, eliminate mishaps, and protect resources.
  • Ensures compliance with directives, technical manuals, work standards, safety procedures, and company policies relating to EHS operations.
  • Applies Company policy and procedures pertaining to the promotion, training, discipline, and termination of employees.
  • Ensures employees possess the training and equipment necessary to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Creates, conducts, and directs environmental training, and coordinates with management to ensure compliance of safety and environmental procedures throughout the organization.
  • Develops and sustains a culture of safety, quality compliance, and professionalism.
  • Ensures compliance with directives, technical manuals, work standards, safety procedures, and company policies relating to EHS operations.
  • Ensures employees possess the training and equipment necessary to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to environmental matters. Prepares technical reports for internal and external review.
  • Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with environmental management.
  • Ensures Environmental compliance of the overall maintenance effort with Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Army (DA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) requirements.
  • Other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Location assignment and shift work as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
  • Five years of EHS management/administration experience, and a minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Training or experience in environmental categories to include: wastewater management, storm water management, oil and hazardous material spill response, hazardous material management, hazardous and solid waste management, air emissions, and pollution prevention.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Must have excellent prioritization skills and possess knowledge of safety and environmental systems and regulations for the aviation industry.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to move about both inside aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance as required by PWS.
