This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our compliance strategy, promote a culture of integrity, and safeguard our organization against risks associated with regulatory non-compliance. As a Compliance Director, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our operations meet the highest standards of legal and ethical practice, fostering trust with patients, regulators, and stakeholders alike. Duties Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance policies aligned with healthcare laws such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations, ACHC standards, and other relevant accreditation requirements. Lead ongoing risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance within clinical operations, billing practices, data management, and administrative processes. Oversee compliance training programs for staff across all levels to ensure awareness of healthcare regulations including ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems such as ICD-9 and
ICD-10, CPT
(Current Procedural Terminology) coding, and medical terminology. Monitor and audit clinical documentation, billing practices, and electronic health records (EHR/EMR) management to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence. Manage investigations into compliance issues or incidents; coordinate corrective action plans to address deficiencies promptly. Collaborate with legal teams on medical law matters and stay updated on evolving healthcare policies to adapt compliance strategies accordingly. Lead efforts in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality assurance and quality improvement within healthcare operations while maintaining regulatory standards. Prepare detailed reports for executive leadership on compliance status, audit findings, risk management activities, and regulatory updates. Experience Proven experience in healthcare compliance management within a hospice organization. Extensive knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, CMS guidelines, and accreditation standards such as ACHC and CHAP. Demonstrated expertise in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, medical terminology proficiency, and electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems. Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams through process improvements or compliance initiatives. Excellent data analysis skills to interpret complex datasets related to healthcare operations and compliance metrics. Familiarity with risk management practices within healthcare settings to proactively identify vulnerabilities. Ability to navigate healthcare laws effectively while fostering a culture of continuous compliance improvement. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and specialized compliance or healthcare software tools is essential.
