Job Description

What to Expect Tesla Insurance seeks a versatile, experienced attorney versed in all aspects of insurance law to join our innovative, fast-growing, technology forward automobile insurance business, which currently operates in 15 states. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Head of Legal & Compliance and be a critical partner and legal resource for various regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives for the business. Candidates must be execution oriented, have excellent analytical skills, and be able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Do Work across business and legal teams on compliance and risk management initiatives Strategize processes and procedures for effective, consistent handling of policies and claims in compliance with various state laws and assist with the development and delivery of compliance focused training programs Assist with drafting insurance policy forms and related materials, as well as corporate compliance materials Conduct legal research for internal business clients on a broad range of matters and provide clear, concise, accurate and actionable legal advice Keep abreast of legal trends and regulatory developments to identify the potential impact to Tesla's insurance business Assist with the management of class actions and extra-contractual litigation, including litigation strategy and facilitation of discovery What You'll Bring Admitted to practice law in California and admission in other states within our footprint a plus 7+ years of experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department with significant experience handling insurance regulatory and compliance matters, as well as extra-contractual/coverage litigation Excellent legal research, writing and communication skills Solid critical thinking skills and the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear and simple advice for business stakeholders Able to learn on the job and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where demands and priorities change rapidly Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational skills and the proven ability to multi-task and maintain high quality and performance Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
