POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Safety and Compliance at Orange Lutheran High School provides high- to mid-level planning and support for campus safety, security, and compliance initiatives, ensuring a secure and welcoming environment that aligns with the school's mission to strengthen students through faith and prepare them for life. This role oversees the Campus Safety team, compliance efforts, and emergency preparedness, while integrating the Lancer Safety Program (IIPP, WVPP, CSSP, EPP) to protect students, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The Director promotes a culture of accountability, compassion, collaboration, and gratitude, representing the school professionally in all interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop and implement mid- to high-level strategies for campus safety, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and compliance with the Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) and Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP). Manage the Campus Safety Supervisor and Welcome Center Associates. Ensure scheduling for complete coverage, training, and adherence to departmental standards as outlined in the Campus Safety Primary Responsibilities document. Oversee normal school day operations (7:00 am-4:00 pm), extended hours (4:00 pm-9:00 pm), weekends, holidays, and special events (e.g., admissions, athletics, Nechita, rentals). Coordinate traffic control, parking lot setup, zone patrols (e.g., Parking Lot, Buildings, Student Union), and visitor monitoring. Enforce policies from the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP), and Volunteer Handbook, including TB clearances, Live Scan fingerprinting, and abuse prevention training. Conduct periodic inspections, training sessions, and self-assessments using the Lancer Safety Program Self-Assessment Form. Supervise the Welcome Center Associate in coordinating visitors, volunteers, and vendors, ensuring sign-in procedures, background checks, and COI requirements are met. Enforce professional boundaries and safe interactions in accordance with the Volunteer Handbook. Direct responses to major incidents, medical emergencies, hazards, vehicle incidents, and threats (e.g., bomb threats, opioid overdoses) per the EPP and Campus Safety Standards. Maintain Violent Incident Logs, coordinate with local law enforcement, and lead post-incident debriefs. Work with the COO, Director of Operations, Director of Technology & Innovation, and program directors (e.g., Athletics, Student Life) to integrate safety into events, transportation, and facilities management. Use radios, ParentSquare, and other tools for professional communication. Maintain records for training, incidents, inspections, and compliance (e.g., retaining records for 5 years per
IIPP/WVPP
). Report workplace violence, hazards, or concerns promptly, ensuring that whistleblowers are protected from retaliation. Review and update safety protocols annually, coordinate drills (e.g., earthquake, active shooter), and implement corrective actions based on investigations and feedback from the Lancer Safety Committee. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Public Safety, or a related field; Master's degree or certifications (e.g., CPP, CEM) preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in safety/security management, preferably in an educational setting. Knowledge of California Education Code (Sections 32280-32289), OSHA, and school safety laws. Experience leading teams in patrol, emergency response, and compliance. Valid California driver's license, CPR/First Aid certification, and ability to pass enhanced background checks (FBI/DOJ Live Scan, TB clearance).
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

years of experience in operations, project management, facilities coordination, logistics, or a related field Experience in an educational, nonprofit, or campus-based environment strongly preferred Certified Associate in Project Management preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
