54950BR Senior Director, International Trade Compliance General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Poway California Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, International Trade Compliance! This position is responsible for overseeing all activities related to export licenses from inception to completion in support of business development activities. Ensures adherence to Company policies as well as appropriate laws and regulations. Consults with management on strategy and ensures policies and practices are in support of business activities. Typically accomplishes objectives through management where the scope and complexity of responsibilities require integration with multiple departments. Responsible for decisions that have a significant long-term impact on the organization. Essential Functions Oversees the development of import/export jurisdiction and requirements for license generation and tracking and for support of submitted licenses throughout U.S. Government review and approval processes. Oversees the administration of export licenses ensuring adherence to Company policies, applicable laws, and regulations. Establishes strategy and direction for import/export functions and ensures alignment with strategic plans established by top management and leadership. Provides leadership in identifying issues, developing solutions, and provides consultation to senior management to ensure the export compliance process supports business objectives. Manages relations with appropriate government licensing authorities ensuring that the Company's position on licensing and technology release is conveyed, understood and accepted. Maintains contacts with both domestic and foreign civilian and military personnel, as well as customers and procurement officers. Remains current on commercial/government/international laws, regulations and practices effecting export licenses. Oversees subordinate management and/or professional staff to ensure activities meet the organizations objectives and assigned timelines. Acts as a primary contact for export compliance activities and issues with internal and external management and senior level customer representatives. Conducts technical briefings for senior management and external representatives. Directs the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required professional talent. Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Job Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field, with fifteen or more years of progressively complex experience with a Bachelor's (or thirteen or more years with a Master's) in the various global trade compliance disciplines, and at least eleven of those years in trade compliance supervision/management. Additional professional experience may be considered in lieu of education. Must be able to obtain and maintain at least a U.S. Secret security clearance (accordingly, U.S. citizenship is required); active security clearance highly preferred. Demonstrate a detailed and current expertise in application of U.S. trade control laws and regulations and trade compliance best practices. Familiarity with non-U.S. trade compliance requirements strongly preferred. Varied experience interacting with regulatory agencies on trade compliance issues. Possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems, serve as spokesperson on assigned projects and/or programs, and provide leadership and direction to assigned staff. Strategic thinking and strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to build networks and enable an effective interface with and ability to influence diverse stakeholders (including senior leaders) in the organization, in the company and beyond. Demonstrate flexibility and patience in tracking and adapting to ever-evolving government and customer requirements and expectations.
