Position Summary Plans, organizes, and directs system-wide environmental compliance programs, strategy, and activities at Orlando Health.
Responsibilities Essential Functions:
- Develops and aligns environmental compliance strategies with organizational goals.
- Leads system-wide environmental compliance programs, activities, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards.
- Builds and maintains relationships with system, regional, and site leadership.
- Collaborates with leadership to develop and support improvement strategies related to environmental compliance.
- Partners with Corporate Safety, Facilities, Infection Prevention, Emergency Management, Regulatory Affairs, and other stakeholders to evaluate compliance, support performance improvement, and meet key metrics.
- Leads preparation for and response to regulatory inspections, findings, complaints, and compliance issues.
- Serves as liaison with regulatory agencies including FDEP, EPA, and The Joint Commission.
- Oversees required regulatory reporting (air permits, discharge permits, fuel storage compliance, etc.).
- Presents to executive, regional, and site leadership.
- Leads cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement.
- Stays current on regulatory changes, trends, and best practices.
- Provides consultative support using data and analytics to improve decision-making.
- Supports development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with integration of environmental compliance programs in new or acquired facilities.
- Supports budgeting, expense management, and operational standards.
- Serves as Safety Officer in Command Center during incident activation.
- Participates as subject matter expert on Environment of Care committees.
- Manages daily operations, staffing, workflow, and team performance.
- Investigates environmental issues and implements corrective actions.
- Maintains compliance with all organizational policies and attendance standards.
Other Duties:
- Manages HR functions including hiring, evaluating, developing, and retaining staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science/Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
Training:
Must complete 40CFR 262.17 training within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.
Licensure/Certification:
None required.
Experience:
- 10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance or related field
- 5 years of management experience
