DESCRIPTION
Gurwin Healthcare System is a full healthcare continuum providing extraordinary care to the Long Island community and beyond. Set primarily on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Gurwin's Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens), Island Nursing and Rehab Center, and two certified (CHHA) and licensed home care (LHCSA) agencies. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Quality and Corporate Compliance to be responsible for the strategic direction and daily oversight of the organization's healthcare quality, patient safety, and corporate compliance programs. This role ensures total alignment with federal and state regulations, protects organizational integrity, and drives clinical and operational excellence to optimize patient outcomes. Core Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Improvement Establish quality standards and key performance indicators. Ensure full adherence to CMS conditions of participation and HIPAA privacy laws. Oversee performance improvement teams and monitor reporting to the QAPI Committee. Manage Health Commerce System database and roles. Assist with and participate in all regulatory survey activities. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all corporate departments. Analyze operational data to identify defects, errors, or inefficiencies. Direct risk assessment strategies to mitigate systemic quality failures. Manage accreditation processes and maintain industry-specific certifications. Compliance Leadership Design and execute the corporate compliance program systemwide. Monitor compliance with external laws, codes, and regulations. Oversee internal audits to detect and address vulnerability areas. Investigate reports of non-compliance, healthcare fraud, waste, abuse, privacy breaches or ethical violations. Serve as liaison to federal regulators, state department of health and legal counsel. Maintain the Code of Conduct and update compliance policies regularly. Training & Culture Develop training programs regarding compliance risks and quality practices. Promote a culture of ethical behavior, transparency, and accountability. Required Qualifications Education & Experience Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, clinical degree in Nursing or related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in quality management or corporate compliance, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Regulatory expertise: Deep knowledge of industry laws, risk frameworks, and governance. Analytical thinking: Ability to interpret complex data, metrics, and legal text. Executive presence: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ethical judgment: Uncompromising integrity and objectivity under pressure.
