Director of Tax Compliance

Pay:

starting at $180,000/year Position Summary The Director Tax Compliance is responsible for leading the organization's tax compliance and tax planning functions across a privately owned healthcare corporation under the direction of both the CFO and external tax advisors. This position oversees all federal, state, and local tax compliance activities, develops tax strategies that support organizational growth, and ensures compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. This position serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, partnering with finance, legal, operations, and external tax advisors to manage tax risk, improve processes, and optimize the organization's tax position. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in corporate taxation, multi-entity healthcare organizations, and private company environments, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues while supporting strategic business initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and review of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, franchise, property, sales and use, and other applicable tax filings. Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all tax reporting requirements across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions. Oversee tax account reconciliations and ensure appropriate accounting for income taxes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Monitor changes in tax legislation affecting healthcare organizations and assess the impact on the organizations. Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the organization's financial and operational objectives. Provide tax guidance for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, reorganizations, and business expansion initiatives in conjunction with external tax advisors. Identify opportunities for tax savings, available credits, incentives, and operational efficiencies. Evaluate tax implications of new service lines, organizational structures, and healthcare reimbursement initiatives. Lead all federal, state, and local tax examinations and coordinate responses to taxing authorities. Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants. Evaluate existing tax processes and implement improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Oversee implementation and optimization of tax technology and automation initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Master's degree in Taxation (MST) preferred Minimum of 10 years of progressive tax experience. Significant experience in corporate tax compliance for privately held organizations. Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred, including experience supporting multi-entity healthcare systems. Experience managing complex tax compliance requirements. Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and organizational restructuring. Skills and Abilities Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws affecting privately owned businesses. Strong understanding of pass-through entities, partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and consolidated tax structures. Knowledge of healthcare industry tax considerations and reimbursement-related implications. Experience with tax research, planning, and risk assessment. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to executive leadership.
