Position Description Advertised Job Summary With the vision of supporting the values and mission of the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX, the Director of Incident Response, Education, and Compliance provides leadership for a centralized civil rights function that serves as a leading model in higher education. This position oversees institution-wide incident response and supportive measures for reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, while providing strategic oversight of education and compliance initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Civil Rights & Title IX, the Director ensures a coordinated, trauma-informed, and legally compliant response to civil rights concerns. The Director supervises incident response staff as well as the Education Specialist and Compliance Specialist, and is responsible for aligning operations across these functions to promote equitable access, consistency, and institutional effectiveness. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and at least 8 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Master's, J.D., or Doctorate in related field; Related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization. Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams; Experience in higher education and centralized civil rights models; Experience with case management systems (e.g., Maxient). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Extensive experience with Title IX, Title VI, Title
VII , ADA
, and related civil rights laws; Clery, FERPA ). Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Ability to manage complex operations and multiple functional areas. Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills. Ability to interpret policy and apply sound judgment in sensitive situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
Job Duties Job Duty Incident Response and Supportive Measures Leadership:
Provides strategic oversight of the institution-wide incident response function and supportive measures response to reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. Ensures timely, equitable, and trauma-informed response processes. Oversees the intake, assessment, and response to all incoming reports. Directs development and implementation of supportive measures for complainants and respondents. Ensures consistent case management practices and appropriate documentation in case management systems. Supervises incident response staff and monitors caseload distribution and service delivery. Establishes and refines processes to support institutional compliance with federal and state law. Collaborates with campus partners to ensure access to resources and support. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40
Job Duty Education and Training Leadership:
Provides strategic direction for civil rights education and training initiatives to promote awareness, prevention, and compliance. Supervises the Education Specialist and oversees development of training programs. Directs design and implementation of training for faculty, staff, and students. Ensures required training compliance and monitors participation metrics. Collaborates on communication strategies to disseminate information campus-wide. Evaluates effectiveness of training programs and incorporates best practices and emerging technologies. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25
Job Duty Compliance and Policy Oversight:
Leads development and implementation of civil rights compliance strategies to ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional requirements. Supervises the Compliance Specialist and oversees compliance planning and reporting. Ensures timely and accurate completion of required federal and state reports. Monitors changes in laws and regulations and implements necessary updates. Partners with Human Resources and other stakeholders on compliance initiatives. Provides consultation on policy interpretation and risk mitigation. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20

Provides leadership for cross-functional alignment and continuous improvement of civil rights operations. Develops and implements strategic goals for incident response, education, and compliance functions. Uses data and assessment to inform decision-making and improve services. Represents the office in campus committees and external engagements. Ensures alignment with institutional mission and priorities.
