Job Description

Description Hampton University Athletics is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to serve as the Director of Compliance. This position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and administration of the Athletics Compliance Office and ensuring departmental adherence to all NCAA, Conference, University, and departmental rules and regulations. The Director of Compliance will work closely with coaches, student-athletes, campus departments, and Athletics Administration to support a culture of integrity, education, accountability, and institutional control within Hampton University Athletics. Examples of Duties
  • Assist in the administration and oversight of all NCAA, Conference, and institutional compliance matters.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance systems related to recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, playing and practice seasons, awards, and benefits.
  • Educate coaches, staff, student-athletes, boosters, and campus constituents on NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Review and process compliance-related documentation including recruiting logs, official/unofficial visits, CARA logs, camps and clinics, and waiver requests.
  • Assist with the certification of student-athlete eligibility and monitoring of academic requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor rules education programming for Athletics staff and student-athletes.
  • Assist in investigating and reporting potential NCAA violations and preparing required documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with campus departments including Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, Academic Affairs, and Human Resources.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and assist with NCAA and Conference reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between Athletics and various University departments regarding compliance-related matters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or designated supervisor. Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Previous experience working in collegiate athletics compliance or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and compliance systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Supplemental Information
  • Knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, regulations, and compliance procedures.
  • Knowledge of student-athlete eligibility requirements, recruiting legislation, financial aid, and playing/practice season regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply NCAA bylaws, policies, and procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, campus administrators, and external constituents.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programming related to NCAA compliance and institutional policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance-related software systems.
  • Ability to investigate potential violations, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
