That requires creativity and a problem-solving orientation, because we're trying new things and working fast. You'll use your legal experience and training to interpret laws, draft and review agreements and disclosures, policies, resolve litigation matters and disputes, and advise on risk. The L&C team is hands-on wherever needed, including marketing reviews, audits, exam responses, licensing applications and reports, vendor management, statutory and regulatory analysis, contract review and drafting, and training, and we share all work regardless of experience. You'll be part of a highly valued team and work on a variety of projects across the company. More about the role and the team: It's a small team (4 lawyers) within a flat organization. We're looking for a very capable attorney who has good foundational knowledge and experience and is ready to level up -- someone comfortable with and eager to learn more about navigating in the gray. Responsibilities Assist in ensuring compliance with TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, UDAAP, HMDA, TRID, and other federal and state consumer lending regulations. Monitor compliance with state-specific lending laws (e.g., usury laws, servicing, licensing requirements, foreclosure processes). Support the development and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and training materials. Assist in conducting compliance reviews of loan origination, underwriting, and servicing processes. Perform periodic audits of required disclosures, adverse action notices, loan documents, etc. Assist in responding to customer complaints, regulatory inquiries, and internal situations. Research federal and state regulatory updates impacting consumer lending. Assist in updating policies and procedures to reflect new laws and regulations. Support compliance training efforts for internal teams. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure compliance is embedded in loan servicing and creation. Review marketing materials and loan disclosures for Regulation Z and UDAAP compliance. Assist in third-party vendor risk assessments, particularly for loan origination systems, credit reporting agencies, and payment processors.
