This position researches regulatory requirements, assists with product and packaging reviews, maintains compliance documentation, and supports internal teams with regulatory questions and updates. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in regulatory affairs, environmental compliance, or consumer product regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Regulatory Research & Monitoring- Research and track current and emerging state and federal regulations related to product packaging, labeling claims, recycling, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and packaging sustainability requirements.
- Monitor recycling and packaging-related legislation across multiple states.
- Maintain organized records of regulatory requirements, guidance documents, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare internal summaries, checklists, and updates regarding regulatory changes. Product Packaging & Labeling Compliance
- Assist in reviewing product packaging and labels for compliance with applicable federal and state-specific requirements, including FTC, EPA, California Proposition 65, and CPSC / Consumer Product Safety Act requirements.
- Conduct hands-on inspections of physical products and packaging as required.
- Measure, weigh, document, and report individual product and packaging specifications.
- Assist with identifying and documenting potential packaging, labeling, or recycling compliance issues. Compliance Support & Documentation
- Help coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and support internal stakeholders with compliance questions.
- Organize and maintain compliance records, reference materials, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with administrative and research projects in support of the compliance function.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Environmental Science, Political Science, Public Policy, Business, Communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong interest in regulatory compliance, packaging, sustainability, or environmental policy.
- Excellent research, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage large amounts of information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and willingness to learn new systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or internship experience related to regulations, environmental policy, or compliance.
- Familiarity with packaging, labeling, or recycling regulations is a plus but not required.
- Ability to interpret and summarize legal or regulatory language clearly.
