Summary:
The Revenue Operations department's Initial Data Operations and Registration & Processing work units are searching for two aspiring leaders to become a Technical Records Specialist 2 specializing in subject matter expertise and working with their supervisor to develop the potential of staff. Duties include training temporary and permanent staff, working on escalated issues, providing work direction, aiding staff development, updating procedures, and taking an active role in the mail and payment processing functions performed by the work unit. These tasks rely heavily on a strong attention to detail, favor prioritization and organizational skills, utilize confidence in communicating with the public and businesses, and the capacity for deductive reasoning. Revenue Operations strives to create a welcoming and productive work environment with opportunities to learn, collaborate with coworkers, and develop career goals.
Responsibilities:
Resolve problems associated with staff assignments Review work to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and policies Answer questions requiring subject matter expertise Review documents to determine appropriate actions, ensure accuracy of computations and compliance with policies and procedures Research, analyze, and resolve complex problems in processing documents Correct or reject incomplete or erroneously submitted documents Contact taxpayers or their representatives to explain changes, actions, and errors, or resolve problems and gain compliance Conduct fact-finding interviews to obtain or verify information Approve changes and make modifications, adjustments or recalculations Interpret, apply, and provide information on laws, rules, requirements, and procedures Review and analyze legal documents for discrepancies Compose letters to address and resolve issues Conduct one-on-one conversations with taxpayers and/or representatives to resolve complex discrepancies Provide training to staff Collaborate with others including attorneys or tax professionals
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically met by at least one year in each of the following areas. Experience monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs Experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues Experience dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds Experience in stressful situations entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system composing and proofreading business correspondence Why Join Us?
