Jul 31, 2026 Job Description Position Summary The Special Education Compliance Administrator is responsible for overseeing and ensuring district-wide compliance with federal and state special education regulations and timelines. This position provides leadership and coordination related to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), special education evaluations, state reporting, fiscal documentation, and out-of-district placements. The administrator works collaboratively with school administrators, special education staff, related service providers, and state agencies to maintain accurate records, ensure procedural compliance, and support high-quality services for students with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Compliance Oversight Monitor and ensure district compliance with all federal and state special education regulations and procedural requirements. Oversee compliance related to: IEP development and implementation timelines Annual review and reevaluation timelines Initial and reevaluation eligibility determinations Evaluation completion timelines and documentation Develop systems for tracking and monitoring compliance indicators and deadlines. Provide technical assistance and guidance to school-based teams regarding special education procedures and requirements. Problem Resolution and Corrective Action Coordinate district responses to Problem Resolution System (PRS) complaints and state inquiries. Ensure timely completion and submission of corrective action plans, follow-up documentation, and required evidence of compliance. Collaborate with administrators and staff to implement corrective actions and monitor ongoing compliance. DESE Program Review and State Reporting Manage preparation and maintenance of documentation required for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Program Reviews. Coordinate collection, organization, and submission of required compliance records and evidence. Assist in monitoring district adherence to state reporting requirements and corrective action activities. Fiscal and Grant Documentation Oversee documentation and reporting related to Circuit Breaker reimbursement. Coordinate and maintain School Choice special education documentation and reporting requirements. Ensure accurate records related to special education expenditures and eligible services. Out-of-District Oversight Manage and monitor the district's out-of-district special education caseload. Maintain records related to placements, transportation, tuition, and required documentation. Collaborate with families, providers, and district personnel regarding placement monitoring and student progress. Ensure timely completion of all required out-of-district paperwork and compliance documentation.
