Job Description
Permits Coordinator Job Summary The Permit Coordinator plays an essential role in the construction and development industry, acting as a liaison between companies and local government agencies. This position involves managing the permit application process from start to finish, ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurately prepared and submitted in a timely manner. By navigating the complexities of regulatory requirements, the Permit Coordinator helps to streamline project timelines, reduce potential legal obstacles, and maintain compliance with all relevant laws and ordinances. Their expertise in understanding and interpreting codes and regulations ensures that projects proceed without unnecessary delays, supporting the overall success and efficiency of construction and development initiatives. General Accountabilities
- Obtain, complete, review, and assess all permit applications to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Submit the permit applications to appropriate governmental agencies and follow up to expedite the review and approval process.
- Liaise between project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to communicate permit requirements and resolve any issues that may arise during the permit acquisition process.
- Maintain a detailed database in the customer service platform of all permit applications, including their status, deadlines for submission or renewal, and any associated fees.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and plans required for public hearings or meetings related to the permit approval process.
- Analyze and interpret zoning laws, building codes, and other regulations to advise project teams on permit-related constraints and opportunities.
- Facilitate the resolution of violations or non-compliance issues identified during inspections by coordinating corrective actions and re-inspections to ensure compliance with all permit conditions.
- Develop and implement strategies for streamlining the permit process for future projects, including establishing relationships with key personnel in regulatory agencies and staying abreast of changes in permitting procedures and requirements.
- Communicate with insurance agent to secure road opening bonds when needed.
- Keep track of escrow payments and facilitate with townships when it should be returned.
- Facilitate the release of road opening bonds that are no longer needed.
- Inform management of any additional insurance requirements if current coverage is insufficient.
- Schedule and coordinate traffic control when necessary; obtain final bills and submit to management.
- Notify sales team of any extra fees and ensure they are added to the invoice promptly.
- Obtain "No Parking" permits from townships when required.
- Ensure all permits are approved, paid for, and collected before job commencement.
- Call in mark out's (at 5am) before starting any job involving digging; record ticket number on the invoice.
- The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
