The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the

These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival. Each group's name means

  • in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth.
They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region. Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.
WHAT DOES A 477 CLIENT INTAKE/COMPLIANCE OFFICER DO?
The Full-Time 477 Client Intake/Compliance Officer at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony plays a pivotal role in managing the intake and application processes for the
RSIC 477
Program. This position ensures that all client files are compliant with the 477 Program requirements, facilitating referrals to the 477 Case Manager. Key responsibilities include interviewing applicants, assisting them in the documentation necessary to determine eligibility, and identifying referral resources across various sectors, both internal and external. The officer also provides essential orientation on program services, policies, and compliance standards to clients and community members. Additionally, maintaining an organized filing system and entering data into the 477 Program data management system is crucial. As part of the role, the officer will submit monthly reports to the 477 Case Manager and uphold confidentiality standards in line with tribal and federal regulations. This position is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of the 477 Program and supporting the community's needs.

To excel as a Full-Time 477 Client Intake/Compliance Officer with the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, candidates should possess a blend of education and experience that enables effective processing of client applications for eligibility in social service or workforce development programs. An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred, with a minimum of two years' relevant experience being essential. Familiarity with federal regulations, particularly Public Law 102-477, as well as knowledge of the unique needs within Native American communities, is critical. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs like MS Word and Excel is required, along with experience utilizing data tracking systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are vital for interacting with clients and community members. Additionally, candidates must maintain client confidentiality and demonstrate reliability with transportation and valid Nevada driver's license. Successful applicants should also be prepared to pass a background check and meet RSIC vehicle insurance standards. Qualified Indian preference applies. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Minimum of Associate degree/Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of two years' experience processing client applications in determining eligibility for services similar to welfare assistance program a social service program or workforce development program. Combination of some college education and experience acceptable. Working knowledge of federal programs, program requirements and related contract compliance issues and OMB Circulars Public Law 102-477 (as amended by115-93) and the Workforce Investment Act. Must have knowledge of the needs within Native American communities Must be able to maintain client confidentiality. Must be proficient in operating various computer word processing and spreadsheet programs such as MS Word and Excel. Experience with data tracking systems preferred. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Be able to successfully pass a background check and RSIC vehicle insurance requirements. Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid Nevada's Driver's license Qualitied Indian preference applies.
