OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs. The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is seeking a Laboratory Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for the application, modification, and adaptation of analytical methods and procedures for the performance of a variety of tests/examinations of human tissue, fluids, and/or other substances in the clinical laboratory. The work assignments are in the following specializations: chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, immunology, urinalysis, and microbiology. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)). Job duties include, but are not limited to: Performs testing and monitors the quality control program, IQCP, proficiency, and maintenance on laboratory equipment according to clinic and manufacturer standards, policies and procedures, and accreditation agency. Ensures corrective action is documented accurately. Prepares and submits quality assurance reports for events and/or outliers to the laboratory director for review/approval. Scans documents into the laboratory document management system. Follows accreditation standards, regulatory agency requirements, and institutional policies regarding bloodborne pathogens, internal/external disaster policy, infection control, chemical hygiene, fire, and electrical safety. Prepares and participates in accreditation inspections. Participates in off-site inspections. Audits personnel records for compliance with the accreditation agency. Provides training and competency assessment for non-lab staff POC testing. Performs 6-month & annual competency assessment for the technical staff. Scans documents into the laboratory's electronic document management system. Sets up, operates, monitors, and/or utilizes appropriate equipment, instruments, containers, and other devices and materials to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances.
Completes corrective actions for outliers and documents if patient impact has occurred. Joins meetings and huddles as assigned by the laboratory director. Participates in interviews. Follows manufacturers' requirements for validation of new equipment or troubleshooting existing equipment. Ensure all validations have been performed, per accreditation requirements, before go-live. Submits all data to the laboratory director for review. Participates in clinic activities, fundraisers, and skills fair. Prepares a monthly packet for the area of oversight. Collects packets from the leads, reviews them for accuracy, and/or initiates corrective action, and then submits them to the laboratory director. Once approved, scans documents into the laboratory document management system. Handles all laboratory IT tickets that pertain to our LIS. Generate and document data for daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually, and yearly QA Program, laboratory reports, and OKCIC reports. Handles the laboratory schedule. Attends laboratory seminars annually. This position may also be required to perform phlebotomy and/or testing, if needed. Additional duties assigned. The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is a non-profit organization and not a federal employer. Indian preference hiring laws apply.
