Job Description
About the Role Canon U.S.A., Inc. in Melville, NY is currently seeking a Trade Compliance Advisor (Advisor, Logistics). The Trade Compliance Advisor serves as a subject matter resource within a function by offering advice on difficult issues within their area of expertise. Provides creative and effective solutions to problems and assists in the development of policies and procedures. Has a thorough knowledge of the functional area, works independently and interacts with peer-level employees across Canon. May provide input into establishing annual objectives for the function. Typically reports to a Senior Manager or Director, and may mentor less experienced professional staff. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Wednesday and Friday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs. Your Impact
- Tariff Management involving Section 301, Reciprocal Tariffs and all other related tariffs as announced
- C-TPAT Trade Compliance (including C-TPAT Security)
- Export Compliance
- Communication with internal and external parties (including CBP and Customs Brokers)
- Research and implementation of Cost Savings Activities
- Implement and monitor audit activities
- Assisting Customs Operations
- Administration functions including presentations, planning, budget and reports
About You:
The Skills & Expertise You Bring- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 7 years of related experience
- Customs Broker License is a plus
- Experience with Drawback, Foreign Trade Zones and First Sales
- Knowledge of BIS and OFAC regulations
- Experience with Customs Operations (including ACH)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills In accordance with applicable law, we are providing the anticipated salary range for this role, $77,180
