About This Role:
The Research Compliance Officer will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational support and compliance initiatives as well as provide direct user support. Accessible materials will be developed for website and faculty, staff, and external collaborators' digital use. This position will be responsible for understanding the functions and technical capabilities of research platforms including but not limited to Cayuse Research Suite, InfoReady Products, Citi Training products, select Banner modules and University website maintenance. The RCO will liaise with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and serve as administrator, reviewing over 100 IRB submissions per year and communicating with board members concerning human subjects research issues, including the scheduling and management of 2-5 meetings per year. This position will also serve as the main contact and administrator for the emerging field of research security, including keeping up to date on evolving regulations and best practices concerning employment, international travel, and export controls involving possible foreign entanglements. Administering and overseeing all human subjects research submissions, evaluating for risk levels, and communicating with faculty and students. Schedules and runs 2-5 IRB meetings per year, properly recording the minutes and publishing results. Maintaining and Updating the University's Electronic Research Administration (eRA) System and Databases, specifically the Cayuse cloud research platform, InfoReady products, Citi training products. and associated databases. Creating and managing research security policies and procedures while keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory environment. Liaising with relevant internal and external departments to remain compliant in research security matters. Training Stakeholders and Managing User Access for researchers, administrators involved in research and sponsored projects. Assisting in Tracking, Managing, and communicating Financial Conflict of Interest Disclosures to ensure regulatory compliance. Ensuring Adherence to University Procedures and Policies and Uniform Guidance to maintain integrity of the university's research activities ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution. 2 years' experience in general administrative assistance. Familiarity in working with faculty and students performing research. Capacity to maintain and foster confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience of working in an institution of higher education. Aptitude in understanding of digital platforms and willingness to learn. Familiarity of the higher education regulatory environment including Uniform Guidance, federal, state, and institutional compliance regulations.

Collegial team player able to work well with other constituencies to facilitate collaborative relationships among departments and other units within and outside the University. Knowledge of best practices and procedures in research. Ability to plan work, set priorities, respond to deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities. An ability to communicate in a professional manner orally and in writing. Skilled in interpersonal relationships, planning, and communication. Familiarity with University research administration and research policies. Strong interest to provide quality customer service. Ability to build interdisciplinary alliances among administrative, academic, government, and industrial units.
Physical Requirements:
Will frequently be required to perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, speak clearly and listening comprehension. Required travel and visit community organizations (i.e. Rotary, Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Corporations, Non-Profits, etc.).
Job Conditions:
This position may require occasional evening and/or weekends to meet university and departmental needs.
