Department Summary The Innovation and Commercialization unit within the Division of Research & Innovation, empowers researchers to transform discoveries into products, services, and companies. The team provides university researchers with services to support navigating the intellectual property and patent processes, development of licensing agreements with strategic industry partners, mentorship in creating startups and pursuing entrepreneurship, and administering commercialization education programs that help forge paths from academic innovation to real-world application. Position Overview The Licensing Analyst supports coordination of a portfolio of intellectual property and licensing activities, ensuring that disclosed ideas, patents, and agreements move efficiently through the technology transfer pipeline. This position reports to the Director of Innovation & Commercialization to assist in program planning, monitoring, and process improvement across intake, IP and agreement administration; stakeholder communication; and financial tracking to enable leadership to manage risks, meet deadlines, and achieve commercialization goals. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering, law, or a related field and three (3) years of professional experience in licensing, technology transfer, or business development; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multistakeholder projects and deadlines simultaneously (technology transfer, product development, process transfer, or similar preferred).
- Strong project management skills, including: planning, scheduling, risk management, and resource coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
