This role is responsible for analyzing and applying information to state and local license applications for both new and existing stores within an assigned region. The specialist will work closely with state and local agencies to secure essential operational licenses—including tobacco retail, alcohol and beverage sales, and food service and safety licenses. The position supports both corporate and franchisee-operated stores, requiring daily collaboration with multiple departments at headquarters and in the field. The successful candidate will maintain a comprehensive licensing database, provide guidance on licensing requirements, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Responsibilities Analyze and interpret state and local laws to determine licensing requirements for sales and operational activities in assigned regions. Prepare, submit, and track new and renewal license applications for stores, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Communicate with franchisees, corporate operations personnel, and other departments to gather necessary information and provide updates on licensing activities. Interact with state and local licensing officials to obtain, clarify, and verify licensing information. Maintain and oversee the accuracy of licensing records within a comprehensive database for assigned regions. Advise and counsel on the application of various licensing requirements to current and proposed store operations. Support both corporate and franchisee-operated stores in navigating complex and critical licensing processes. Collaborate daily with multiple internal departments and field teams to ensure seamless licensing operations. Qualifications Associate's degree or 2-year degree required. Strong reading and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams, franchisees, and government agencies. Extensive experience with database software programs and maintaining accurate records. Proven attention to detail, curiosity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to analyze and apply state and local licensing requirements. Experience interacting with government agencies and internal stakeholders. Ability to provide advice and guidance on licensing requirements for operational compliance.
