GENERAL SUMMARY
The Underwriting Manager is primarily responsible for contributing to the processing of new complex credit requests and the extension of existing credit facilities. Additionally, the Underwriting Manager analyzes, underwrites and recommends decisions on credit requests generated by line unit Team Managers and Relationship Managers. The Underwriting Manager will also assist Team Managers, Relationship Managers, and Portfolio Managers with monitoring, tracking and managing the credit portfolio with the goal of minimizing credit losses and maintaining compliance with credit review policy and overseeing credit underwriting before presenting to the Senior Credit Administrator.

May supervise and provide guidance and coaching to those that perform underwriting and credit analysis functions for one or more teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Acts as a team leader overseeing credit underwriting activities of other officers to ensure that current and potential customers are properly analyzed to minimize credit losses. Oversees the work of other relationship and/or portfolio managers in preparation of "Concept Memos" and "Loan Proposals". Trains less-experienced credit staff and underwriters, allocates work assignments based on experience and monitors progress. Supports market's growth initiatives by proactively assessing credit needs of clients and prospects, and develops credit solutions to meet customer/prospect credit needs. Together with Team Managers, Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers, takes primary responsibility for providing consultative underwriting advice, credit analysis and on-gong monitoring to meet customer's needs and minimize credit losses to the Bank. Assists the CRE Group EVP to identify, classify, and monitor problem or potential problem loans in compliance with the internal credit review policy. Performs portfolio reporting on an ad hoc and quarterly basis for senior management that includes asset concentrations, and refinance ability analysis. Interacts with Credit Administration, Appraisals, Legal, and other related Bank personnel regarding issues of credit quality, appropriate compensation for risk, as well as new business and related trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or other related field preferred.
Experience:
7-10+ years of banking, underwriting, and credit experience, or other directly related experience. 7- 10+ years of underwriting commercial loans. 3-5 years of experience managing a team to include training, onboarding, hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and career development.
Skills/Ability:
Ability to analyze financial statement, tax returns, and collateral. Excellent knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices, and documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational and managerial skills.

$145,000 - $166,100 / year Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
