We are looking for an experienced Asset-Based Lending professional to join our world-class team as a Managing Director, Credit in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a high-impact role within a publicly traded organization, reporting to the Chief Credit Officer and partnering with the Asset-Based Lending Vertical Market Leader to support and execute the firm's credit strategy. The Managing Director will help build and develop the credit team while carrying meaningful ownership of credit decisions, underwriting standards, transaction review, and portfolio management. Job Description We are seeking an experienced Asset-Based Lending professional to join our team as Managing Director, Credit. Reporting to the Chief Credit Officer, this role will partner with the Asset-Based Lending Vertical Market Leader to support and execute the firm's credit strategy. The Managing Director will help build and develop the credit team while overseeing underwriting, transaction review, and portfolio management. This position carries meaningful ownership of credit decisions and standards, with collaboration on broader portfolio strategy and growth initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities Support and help execute Trinity's asset-based lending credit strategy in partnership with the Chief Credit Officer and Asset-Based Lending Vertical Market Leader. Oversee underwriting and credit analysis for new transactions, including reviewing borrowing base structures, collateral coverage, and covenant packages appropriate for venture-backed and growth-stage companies. Evaluate prospective portfolio companies against established credit criteria and present recommendations to the Investment Committee. Manage and participate in the due diligence process, including meetings with company management, sponsors, investors, and key third parties. Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to the due diligence and credit team, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely execution. Clearly communicate credit decisions, risks, and structure considerations to senior leadership, originations, and counterparties. Assist in refining underwriting standards, credit policies, and portfolio monitoring practices as the platform scales. Review and monitor portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks and supporting proactive credit management. Partner with origination, legal, and portfolio management teams to support deal execution and closing. Mentor and develop junior credit professionals, promoting strong credit judgment and professional growth. Characteristics Proven leader with strong credit judgment and experience managing and mentoring underwriting or credit teams Highly analytical, with the ability to evaluate complex transactions, assess risk, and make sound credit decisions Clear, concise communicator who collaborates effectively across origination, legal, and portfolio management teams Highly organized and driven, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, ownership-oriented mindset Experience MBA or MS in Finance or related discipline Prior experience working within a venture-funded or high-growth operating company Equity investment experience or exposure to mixed debt-and-equity structure Demonstrated experience making or influencing credit decisions for venture-backed asset-based lending transactions Desired Requirements Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field Minimum of 12 years of experience in asset-based lending or structured credit, including at least 5 years focused on venture-funded or growth-stage companies Deep understanding of credit risk across a broad range of industries and collateral profiles Extensive experience working with venture capital investors, sponsors, and company management teams Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, talk, utilize a computer, and read computer screens for extended periods of time Maintain consistent, repetitive motion for data entry (typing/clicking) Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
