Full Job Description Overview:
Ocean Bank is seeking a motivated and analytical Credit Trainee to participate in a structured credit training program designed to build foundational knowledge in credit risk analysis, underwriting, cash flow analysis, financial modeling, portfolio management, and commercial banking products. This role provides exposure to Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit transactions while developing the technical, analytical, communication, and business skills needed to support sound lending decisions and credit portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
Participate in credit training focused on lending practices, credit risk analysis, underwriting, corporate finance, cash flow analysis, financial modeling, valuation, and banking products. Learn the full lending cycle and gain exposure to Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit transactions. Analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, borrower information, and market conditions to support credit recommendations. Assist with loan application reviews, credit approval memorandums, financial ratio calculations, pro forma analysis, stress testing, and repayment source evaluation. Support portfolio monitoring activities, including risk rating assessments, identification of accounts requiring further review, and evaluation of overall repayment capacity.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Requirements Bachelor's degree in business administration, specifically Accounting, Finance, or Economics. Skills & Competencies Must understand general accounting principles and finance principles. Must have excellent financial and quantitative skills. High degree of initiative, accountability, resourcefulness, and attention to detail. Ability to analyze data, work with spreadsheets, calculate formulas, create pivot tables, use VLOOKUP, and run macros. Must be capable of communicating effectively and have strong presentation skills. Must possess excellent project and time management skills; possess excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficient in MS Software, (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook). Preferences None Licenses/Certifications (required)
