Job Description

Summary Reporting to the Delinquency Manager, this full-time, non-exempt hourly role preserves the Credit Union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. The Officer assists other Collectors as well as the Delinquency Manager in the daily operation of the Collections Department. This role works to prevent potential losses caused by returned checks and mismanagement of funds in accounts. The successful candidate leads by example to provide excellent customer service for Credit Union team members and members. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current. Make recommendations to the Delinquency Manager on accounts for workouts or legal action. Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Collect on all delinquent loans including, but not limited to, mortgages, VISAs, car loans and any outstanding loans with the Credit Union. Handle the process of returned checks. Work and oversee Loss Prevention for the department. Assist the other Collectors; work together with department to meet goals and standards. Inform management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans. Practice confidentiality where indicated in employee matters and Credit Union operations. Qualifications and Certifications A High School Diploma or GED required. 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience required. Must have good communication skills, organizational skills, and be detail oriented.
