Thank you for considering the following position in your job search! We are currently seeking an experienced Collector II for a credit union located in Gardena, CA !
Type:
Full-time, temporary (6 months possible temp-to-hire)
Pay:
$26-30/hr Branch hours: Monday -
Friday:
9:30am to 6:30pm (on-site not remote)
Responsibilities:
Negotiate repayment plans. Handle complex inquiries. Evaluate member accounts to recommend loan modifications, deferments, or extensions. Execute expert-level skip tracing techniques to locate members and collateral using specialized databases (e.g., LexisNexis and Google searches), social media research, and credit report analysis. Manage inbound and outbound calls negotiating creative repayment plans for high-balance or severely delinquent accounts. Evaluate auto loan accounts and impound notices to authorize repossession action including coordinating with third-party recovery agents. Process repossessed vehicles for liquidation including preparing legally mandated 'Notice of Intent' letters, coordinating vehicle transport, ensuring prep for sale, and managing the vehicle through the auction lifecycle. Manage delinquent Real Estate loans in strict accordance with HUD notification procedures, state regulations, and specific time limitations to mitigate Credit Union risk. Independently evaluate and prepare loan modifications. Maintain and analyze repossession tracking reports and assist management in compiling recovery statistics and trends to improve department efficiency. Primary point of contact for members experiencing financial difficulty.
Requirements:
4-6 years collection experience in a credit union or bank environment. Knowledge of current bankruptcy laws. Advanced with Microsoft Windows and with an emphasis on spreadsheet analysis. Advanced knowledge of Fair Debt Collection, Bankruptcy, FCRA, SCRA, Real Estate Processes, Repossession and other applicable laws and regulations, and credit union policies and procedures. Advanced analytical and organizational skills. Exceptional member service and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. High school graduate or equivalent. College education a plus.
