Loan Officer A1 Hawk - 4.3 Portland, OR Job Details Part-time | Full-time $17 - $19 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Bilingual Record keeping Computer operation Customer service Computer literacy Basic math Loan evaluation Math Market research Pawn brokerage Data entry Full Job Description Loan Officer Job Summary We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual to handle pawn loans, buy transactions, and assist customers. As a Loan Officer at A1 Hawk, you are responsible for evaluating collateral and facilitating short-term loans or purchases for our customers. This role requires a balance of empathy and professional judgment, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with state regulations.
Key Responsibilities Collateral Evaluation:
Assess the value and condition of various items—such as jewelry, tools, electronics, and collectibles—to determine appropriate loan or buy amounts based on authenticity and market value.
Contract Communication:
Accurately explain loan terms, interest rates, forfeiture policies, and repayment options to customers to ensure full transparency.
Transaction Processing:
Efficiently complete loan renewals, redemptions, buys, and new contracts using our internal POS software. Ensure all collateral is secured before payment is issued.
Compliance:
Strictly adhere to Oregon state pawn laws and federal regulations, including 60-day loan terms, 30-day grace periods, required identification protocols, and anti-money laundering (AML) rules.
Inventory & Documentation:
Properly catalog, label, and store collateral to ensure items are secure and easily retrievable. Maintain accurate records for every transaction.
Customer Relations:
Build trust by providing consistent, respectful service. Resolve difficult situations or disputes professionally while maintaining awareness of the sales floor to assist customers as needed.
Store Operations:
Assist management with daily responsibilities, including keeping the store clean, organized, and customer-friendly.
Dynamic Workflow:
Successfully multitask by managing multiple customer interactions and duties simultaneously without compromising accuracy or service quality. Physical Requirements Ability to transition between the loan counter, intake area, and storage areas throughout the shift. Manual dexterity to handle and inspect small or delicate items, such as jewelry and watches. Capability to lift and maneuver inventory brought in for collateral (Minimum 20lbs) Qualifications High level of integrity and professional discretion when handling financial transactions and customer data. Strong basic math skills and the ability to explain financial terms clearly. Proficiency with data entry and high attention to detail for record-keeping. Calm under pressure; able to handle sensitive financial conversations with a positive attitude. Bilingual (is a plus!) Pass a criminal background check and drug test. Basic computer skills. Positive and friendly attitude. Ability to multitask. Reliable transportation to work. Employees may be assigned additional tasks by management.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
