Role Description The Consumer Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Richmond, VA, responsible for originating and processing consumer loan applications, including auto, personal, and credit card loans. This role evaluates member creditworthiness, explains loan terms and conditions, and recommends appropriate loan products that align with members' needs and financial goals. The Consumer Loan Officer conducts thorough interviews, reviews documentation, and ensures compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements throughout the lending process. Day-to-day tasks include providing exceptional member service, responding to inquiries, resolving loan-related issues, and maintaining accurate records in loan processing systems. The role collaborates with branch and back-office teams to support overall lending operations and promote Dominion Energy Credit Union's products and services. Qualifications Minimum 3 years experience working as a Loan Officer or in a similar consumer lending role, with strong knowledge of loan products and underwriting practices. Familiarity with Credit Unions, cooperative financial principles, and member-focused service environments. Strong Communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain loan options, terms, and decisions to members. Background in Loans and lending operations, including application processing, documentation review, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated Customer Service skills and a commitment to delivering respectful, inclusive, and solution-oriented member support. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work efficiently with multiple applications and deadlines. Comfort with loan origination software and standard office productivity tools; willingness to learn new systems. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in a financial institution or credit union environment is beneficial.
