Smoot Investments Inc. is a well-established, family-owned private investment company specializing in the acquisition, servicing, and management of consumer and commercial debt portfolios. We are seeking an Asset Recovery Specialist to support our growing portfolio of accounts. The Position As an Asset Recovery Specialist , you will play a key role in managing a portfolio of consumer and commercial loans. You will work directly with borrowers to resolve delinquent accounts, negotiate payment arrangements and settlements, and identify effective solutions that create positive outcomes for both the company and our customers. This position combines financial analysis, negotiation, customer communication, and strategic problem-solving. Every account presents unique challenges and opportunities, giving you the autonomy to think critically and develop creative solutions. Key Responsibilities Monitor assigned loan portfolios and track account performance. Communicate with borrowers by phone, email, and written correspondence to resolve payment issues. Analyze financial circumstances to develop customized repayment solutions. Negotiate payment arrangements, settlements, and loan modifications. Maintain accurate account documentation and records. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations while upholding ethical recovery practices. Coordinate with attorneys and external partners regarding litigation and legal proceedings. Assist with case management activities, including occasional travel for court appearances and legal proceedings as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, communications, or a related field is preferred but not required. Ability to successfully complete FDCPA certification upon hire. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and negotiation skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to remain professional and positive while handling challenging situations. Ability to pass a background check. Compensation and Benefits Competitive starting pay of $25 per hour, with compensation based on experience. Annual performance-based bonus opportunities. Full-time, on-site position: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime opportunities available as business needs require. Weekends off. Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 85% of premiums paid by the company. 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% company contribution, regardless of employee participation.
