This key position will be based in our Corporate (HQ) office located in Los Angeles, CA, reporting to the Export Manager. Position Summary The Ocean Export Coordinator will be responsible for the daily management of ocean Export service activities. To receive and process all cargo on a daily basis, including overseas communication and customer service as needed, with a focus on Export Compliance. Work closely with Steam Ship Lines to secure the movement of cargo efficiently to meet the client's expectations. The Ocean Export Coordinator is responsible for preparing files, distributing documents, cargo tracking, billing, and collecting funds while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Essential Responsibilities EXPORT
  • Receive and process Ocean Export cargo.
  • Handle pickup calls and set up files in the system.
  • Double-check work to minimize and avoid all errors
  • Understand US Customs Export requirements and ensure all file processing meets these requirements.
  • Manage email and all communication effectively and within De Well communication policies.
  • Understand rating/export contract, make bookings, and be able to determine costs. Both consolidation and direct cargo.
  • Work with the drayage team to ensure trucking requirements are met and all cartage transfers are completed.
  • Processing the export documentation.
  • Be aggressive in building our existing service
  • Invoice shipments and control payment under client credit terms
  • Audit and approve vendor payments
  • Complete and report the profit/loss of assigned shipment files
  • Provide pricing support to customers, agents, and sales staff.
  • Assist the department and management with assigned projects.
Qualifications Technical:
  • Windows Operating System
  • Strong computer knowledge/proficiency (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Business:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or a related field - PREFERRED
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Logistics/Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain/Third Party Logistics/Ocean Import/Export - PREFERRED
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in NVOCC, customer brokerage and drayage
  • Mandarin Speaking is a plus, but not required
  • Thorough understanding of ocean shipment documentation process, a plus
  • Possess excellent data entry skills and customer service skills with the ability to grasp extensive knowledge whole dealing with a variety of people
  • Ability to use CargoWise is a plus.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks, and identifying alternative solutions or approaches
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Time Management skills
