Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Imports Specialist to join our logistics and supply chain team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the import process from start to finish, ensuring seamless coordination of shipments, compliance with customs regulations, and efficient handling of goods arriving from international sources. Your proactive approach and expertise will help optimize warehouse operations, support timely order fulfillment, and maintain accurate inventory levels. Responsibilities Coordinate the importation of goods by preparing and verifying all necessary documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and shipping manifests. Collaborate with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure timely clearance and delivery of shipments. Manage warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inbound shipments, update inventory records, and facilitate accurate order picking and stocking. Oversee the loading and unloading of freight using equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners to ensure safe handling of goods. Assist with shipping & receiving operations by verifying shipment contents against purchase orders and packing lists. Support order fulfillment processes by ensuring proper picking & packing procedures are followed for both warehouse distribution and e-commerce orders. Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems like AS400 to monitor stock levels, plan replenishments, and coordinate warehouse distribution activities. Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy. Ensure compliance with safety standards during all warehouse activities involving load & unload procedures. Maintain detailed records of import transactions, shipment statuses, and warehouse activities for reporting purposes. Experience Proven experience in warehouse management system (WMS) operations or related logistics software such as AS400 or similar platforms. Hands-on experience with shipping & receiving procedures in a warehouse environment. Familiarity with order picking & packing techniques using RF scanners or other digital tools. Experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment is highly preferred. Knowledge of import regulations, customs documentation requirements, and international shipping processes. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Basic math skills for inventory counting, measurements, and calculations related to shipment weights or volumes. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.
