Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import Operations to join our International Logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing import documentation, ensuring compliance with import regulations, and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong analytical skills, thorough knowledge of import processes, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Documentation:
Prepare and review import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin. Ensure accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations and company policies. Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to gather required information for documentation.
Customs Compliance:
Ensure all import activities comply with local and international import regulations. Prepare and submit customs declarations and other required documentation. Liaise with customs brokers and regulatory authorities to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
Customer Service:
Serve as the primary point of contact for import customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly. Provide updates to customers on shipment status and handle any discrepancies or delays. Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Logistics Coordination:
Schedule and track shipments to ensure timely delivery. Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to facilitate smooth import operations. Monitor shipment progress and troubleshoot any logistical challenges.
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the import process. Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to improve import procedures and efficiency.
Reporting and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and documentation. Prepare and submit import compliance reports as required. Analyze import data to identify trends and improve import operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in import operations, logistics, or a similar role. Strong knowledge of import regulations and documentation requirements. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with logistics software. Outstanding communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the international logistics industry. Familiarity with Incoterms and international shipping practices. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
