Job Description

Our client is currently seeking or in need of a detail-oriented Customs Entry Specialist (Import Entry Writer) to join their team in Jacksonville, FL . This position plays an important role in supporting import operations by preparing, reviewing, and submitting the documentation required for customs clearance. The ideal candidate will have experience with import entry writing, customs brokerage processes, tariff classification, and shipment compliance. This role requires strong accuracy, communication, and problem-solving skills to help ensure shipments are processed correctly and released on time.
The Day-to-Day:
Review, prepare, and process import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping documents, and customs paperwork Submit customs declarations and entries using specialized brokerage and customs software Create and manage in-bond shipments according to applicable requirements Classify imported goods using HTS codes and confirm proper tariff classification Calculate applicable duties, taxes, and fees for imported shipments Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and import/export laws Communicate with customers, carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and customs officials to resolve shipment-related concerns Identify customs delays, documentation discrepancies, and compliance issues before they impact delivery timelines Maintain accurate shipment records and assist with internal reporting needs Support daily import operations in a fast-paced logistics and customs environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 2+ years of import entry writing or customs brokerage experience strongly preferred Working knowledge of customs regulations, import compliance, and tariff classification Experience with customs entry software and shipment processing systems Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing documentation Excellent organizational and time-management skills Strong communication skills with the ability to work with internal teams and outside partners Ability to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and support timely shipment clearance Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is a plus CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification preferred
Pay Rate:
$25.00 to $28.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00
PM Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
