This role ensures timely and accurate processing of import documentation, customs compliance, shipment tracking, and communication with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and customs brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and monitor ocean and air import shipments from booking through delivery. Prepare, review, and process import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and arrival notices. Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, airlines, trucking companies, and customs brokers to ensure smooth cargo movement. Track shipments and provide proactive status updates to customers. Ensure compliance with customs regulations and company procedures. Resolve shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, and customer inquiries. Arrange final delivery and coordinate drayage and trucking services as needed. Maintain accurate shipment records and update transportation management systems. Verify vendor invoices and assist with billing activities.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international transportation. Knowledge of ocean and air import operations. Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and import documentation. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and freight forwarding software systems. Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. #IND2
