Job Description

Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Customs Brokerage Entry Writer to support our customs brokerage and logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing and filing import entries, classifying goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of customs procedures, the ability to manage high-volume entries, and effective communication with clients, carriers, and government agencies to facilitate the timely clearance of shipments.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and file import entries in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. Review import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents for accuracy and completeness. Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and ensure proper tariff application and regulatory compliance. Process and calculate import duties, taxes, and applicable government fees with a high level of accuracy. Prepare and review entry summaries (CBP Form 7501) and verify duty calculations prior to submission. Communicate with CBP, clients, carriers, steamship lines, and internal departments to obtain required documentation and resolve shipment discrepancies. Respond to customs inquiries and assist in resolving customs holds, examinations, Requests for Information (CF-28), and other compliance-related matters. Monitor shipments to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery while proactively addressing potential delays. Maintain accurate and organized entry records in accordance with company policies and CBP compliance standards. Provide guidance and support to junior entry writers and assist with training when needed. Stay current on customs regulations, HTS updates, PGA requirements, and industry best practices. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or import operations required. Strong knowledge of customs entry processes, import documentation, and U.S. customs regulations. Experience classifying products under HTSUS and processing customs entries independently. Experience using CargoWise or similar customs brokerage software preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Preferred Qualifications Experience with ABI filing systems. Knowledge of Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements. Experience handling high-volume entries in a customs brokerage or logistics environment. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification is a plus.
