Position Summary The Operations Manager (Licensed Customs Broker) will oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of the import/export operations team, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company policies. This individual will hold a valid U.S. Customs Broker License and will be responsible for maintaining compliance, leading operational efficiencies, and developing staff. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership, problem-solving, and hands-on management to support the company's logistics operations and customer service standards. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Customs Compliance & Brokerage Act as the company's licensed customs broker of record, ensuring all import/export activities meet U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations. Oversee and review customs entries, classifications, valuation, PGA requirements, and related filings. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CBP regulations and advise management on compliance issues. Ensure adherence to C-TPAT, FMC, and other regulatory programs. Operational Leadership Lead and manage the import/export operations team, including training, performance management, and career development. Streamline processes to maximize operational efficiency and reduce errors. Oversee client accounts, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, shipment tracking, and communication. Manage relationships with carriers, vendors, and government agencies. Client Service & Business Support Provide subject matter expertise to clients on customs regulations, tariff classifications, and entry processes. Support the sales team in client acquisition by providing technical guidance on customs and compliance matters. Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and professionally. Strategic & Administrative Responsibilities Develop and implement operational policies and procedures in line with company objectives. Monitor KPIs to measure operational efficiency, compliance accuracy, and client satisfaction. Collaborate with senior leadership on budgeting, resource allocation, and growth initiatives. Ensure proper recordkeeping, audit readiness, and reporting. ________________________________________ Qualifications Active and valid U.S. Customs Broker License (required). Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field preferred. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, HTS classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and PGA requirements. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Proficiency in customs brokerage software (ABI systems), Microsoft Office Suite, and logistics management tools.
