Operations Manager / Branch Manager Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import / Export Operations to manage international ocean freight shipments from origin through final delivery. This role is responsible for coordinating shipments, preparing documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate has freight forwarding experience and strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations , including documentation, customs coordination, and shipment tracking. Key ResponsibilitiesShipment Management Coordinate FCL and LCL ocean import and export shipments from booking through final delivery. Arrange bookings with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, and overseas agents . Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely movement and proactively resolve delays. Coordinate drayage, rail, and inland transportation when required. Documentation & Compliance Prepare and review shipping documentation including: Bills of Lading Commercial Invoices Packing Lists AES filings ISF filings Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC guidelines, and international shipping requirements . Coordinate with customs brokers for import clearance and documentation accuracy . Customer Service Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status and documentation. Provide shipment updates, arrival notices, and delivery confirmations . Maintain communication with overseas agents, vendors, and internal teams . Billing & Financial Responsibilities Ensure shipment files are closed and billed accurately and on time . Review carrier invoices and vendor charges for accuracy. Maintain margin targets through proper rating and cost control. Monitor ready-to-bill reports and operational KPIs . Operational Coordination Work closely with warehouses, trucking companies, and steamship lines . Coordinate cargo availability, delivery appointments, and container returns . Manage demurrage and detention exposure when applicable. Reporting & File Management Maintain accurate shipment records in the company operating system . Ensure documentation is complete, uploaded, and audit-ready . Support management with operational reporting and shipment tracking metrics . QualificationsExperience 5+ years experience in Ocean Import, Ocean Export, or Freight Forwarding Operations. Experience handling FCL and LCL shipments and international shipping documentation .
Knowledge Understanding of:
Ocean carrier operations Incoterms Customs clearance processes
AES / ISF
filing requirements Freight forwarding systems such as CargoWise, Magaya, or similar Skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities Education Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred Equivalent experience considered Performance Expectations Timely processing and billing of shipment files Accurate shipment documentation and regulatory compliance Meet or exceed operational KPIs including file closure, billing timelines, and customer service standards
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
