Competitive, based on experience Position Summary A leading international logistics organization is seeking an experienced Air Import Operations Agent to manage and coordinate air import shipments from arrival through final delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring timely processing, documentation compliance, customer communication, and coordination with carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have prior air import experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor and track inbound air freight shipments and update shipment milestones accurately. Process high-volume import transactions, including shipment booking, billing, documentation review, and data entry. Review shipping documents and verify shipment details against physical cargo when necessary. Coordinate with airlines, warehouses, customs brokers, truckers, and customers to ensure smooth cargo movement. Notify customers of shipment arrivals, delivery schedules, and applicable charges. Generate freight transfer documentation and issue delivery orders for timely shipment release. Process Bills of Lading and provide shipment handling instructions. Coordinate bonded freight movements, transfers, and other import-related requirements. Ensure hazardous materials shipments are handled in compliance with applicable regulations. Investigate shipment discrepancies, shortages, and delays, and assist with claim documentation as needed. Maintain complete and accurate shipment files, supporting documentation, and billing records. Collaborate with sales, account management, and operations teams to provide exceptional customer service. Ensure all shipment tracking and billing milestones are completed accurately and on time. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree or some college coursework preferred. Minimum 1-2 years of Air Import Operations experience required. Working knowledge of air freight import procedures and documentation. Understanding of INCOTERMS and international transportation practices. Experience handling bonded freight and cargo preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a deadline-driven environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement corrective actions when issues arise. Proficiency with freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
