Job Description

We are partnering with a global manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Trade & Tariff Optimization Consultant to help strengthen its international trade strategy in the Wytheville, Virginia area. This Contract position will focus on reducing tariff-related costs, improving import and export processes, and supporting compliant trade operations across the business. The consultant will work closely with supply chain, procurement, finance, and operations leaders to identify practical opportunities for savings and process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in global trade, customs compliance, supply chain finance, or tariff strategy within a manufacturing environment. This consultant will need the ability to be onsite in Wytheville, VA as needed.

Key ResponsibilitiesConduct a comprehensive review of current import/export activities, tariff classifications, and duty spend across global operations.

Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, and Finance teams to identify opportunities for tariff mitigation and cost savings.

Evaluate existing customs and trade compliance processes and recommend improvements.

Analyze sourcing strategies, product classifications, country-of-origin considerations, and supply chain flows to optimize tariff outcomes.

Configure and implement additional system parameters, controls, and reporting tools to improve tariff management and tracking.

Assess opportunities related to free trade agreements, duty drawback programs, foreign trade zones, tariff engineering, and other duty-reduction strategies.

Develop financial models and analyses quantifying tariff exposure, potential savings opportunities, and implementation costs.

Collaborate with external customs brokers, trade advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Create dashboards, reporting, and documentation to support ongoing monitoring of import/export costs and tariff impact.

Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership and drive implementation of approved initiatives.
