Overview The Director of Accounting is a senior leadership role on the CFO's team at a rapidly growing insurance platform scaling its U.S. business and making significant investments in its finance organization. This role blends hands‑on technical leadership with strategic influence, overseeing financial reporting and shaping the accounting function as the company continues its strong growth trajectory. This is a high‑visibility opportunity for a technically strong accounting leader to have meaningful impact, help shape financial strategy, and build scalable processes within an ambitious, fast‑paced organization focused on long‑term success. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across U.S. Statutory and IFRS reporting bases Lead the end‑to‑end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong controls Oversee preparation of financial statements and related disclosures Audit & Compliance Serve as primary accounting lead for external audits and regulatory examinations Coordinate closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient audits Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and accounting documentation Strategic Finance & Business Partnership Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis Provide insights that support business decision‑making and long‑term financial strategy Support growth initiatives by ensuring accounting processes scale effectively with the business Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing accounting team Establish best practices, workflows, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Mentor team members and support their professional development Qualifications Required CPA and/or equivalent professional accounting qualification 7+ years of experience within Insurance or Financial Services Deep knowledge of U.S. Statutory accounting and IFRS Proven experience leading monthly, quarterly, and annual closes Strong technical accounting background with the ability to operate hands‑on when needed Experience working closely with auditors and regulators Preferred Prior experience in insurance or financial services Background in high‑growth or scaling organizations Demonstrated ability to build and scale accounting teams and processes
