full-time Director of Accounting Chicago, IL (downtown) | Hybrid, 2 days in office | $165,000 to $180,000 base + 12% bonus Our client is a fast growing, multi-state cannabis company. It grows, makes, and sells its own products. The company is growing its Chicago accounting team and is adding a Director of Accounting. You will be one of three directors in the accounting group, reporting to the SVP of Accounting. You will lead a team of 7 to 9 people. You own the monthly close for a segment of the business and deliver complete, accurate consolidated financials. You will also lead projects that change how the team works, with a focus on process and technology. What you'll own Monthly financial statements for your segment, on time, every month A team of 7 to 9 staff and managers: coaching, goals, and accountability Policy and procedure for the department, set with the other directors Relationships with operations teams so upstream data arrives complete and on time Data and support for the audit and tax teams Process and technology improvements across the close Internal control design: see the problem, build the fix Clear communication up, down, and across the business What you bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, several of them leading people Strong GAAP knowledge and a control-minded way of working Experience owning a monthly close and consolidated financials A track record of coaching managers and staff to clear goals Bachelor's degree in Accounting Self-directed, and comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment Nice to have Active CPA (strongly preferred) Accounting transformation or systems change projects Multi-entity or multi-state consolidation Public accounting foundation Details Downtown Chicago, 2 days a week in the office (Monday and Thursday) Occasional travel $165,000 to $180,000 base plus 12% target bonus Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) Must be 21 or older and able to pass a background check Interested, or know someone who fits?
